In 2015, Kirsty Simmons tipped the scales at 114kgs. After making the decision to overhaul her diet and lifestyle in 2015, Kirsty was able to shed 60kgs in 12 months and is now at her goal weight of 54 kilograms! Kirsty entered our competition on a whim and last week received the call saying she had won the Grand Prize of a $25,000 Luxury Surgery Makeover in Thailand!
Kirsty said while she tried her absolute hardest to lose the weight back in 2015, it simply wouldn’t shift. “A gastric bypass was something that frightened me but it was a tool that would help me shift the weight. It certainly wasn’t an easy option, it was a last resort. I spent a lot of time researching and gaining an understanding of what was involved and spoke to a lot of people who had done it so I decided to go ahead. While many people think the weight just “drops off” after surgery, it’s not like that at all” Kirsty told Daily Mail.
She was amazed when she saw the number on the scales finally start to drop! “I had been big for so long and I was so used to seeing the same numbers on the scales so there were lots of mixed emotions. It’s a real adjustment to feel your clothes fitting differently but it was fantastic. I was excited to go clothes shopping again and to go into shops that weren’t just for plus size women. I was also so full of energy finally. I was miserable when I was big and I was doing the bare minimum and just going to work and coming home. I didn’t go out with friends or socialise and I stopped living because I lost all my confidence. Now I’m living my life again.”
Within 12 months, Kirsty had reached her goal weight of just 54 kilograms. “Once I shed the weight my confidence grew and I started going out and exercising which I would have never done before. The surgery is the best decision I have ever made, I wish I had done it sooner.” Despite feeling better than ever, Kirsty was left with loose skin around her stomach and had considered taking out personal loans to have it removed.
But after entering a competition held by Australian cosmetic tourism company CosMediTour on a whim, Kirsty was thrilled to find out she’d won the procedure! “No matter how much exercise I did the skin wasn’t budging so to find out I had won a procedure to have it removed is just amazing – I didn’t think I was in with a chance.” Kirsty will fly to Thailand in September for the surgery and is excited to finally complete her weight loss journey. “I want to feel secure in my body and this surgery makeover will help me to accomplish that. I’m ready for my final transformation!” She said.
