What You Need To Know About Getting Travel Ready

There are a number of very important things you need to know and do in preparation for your surgery journey in Thailand. If you require clarity about any of the items outlined here, please don't hesitate to call your Client Manager.

Travel Ready

BOOKING FLIGHTS

Please do not book your flights or make any other travel arrangements before your Client Manager instructs you to do so. We must have your surgery confirmation in place first.

When booking, full-service (non-budget) flights offer greater comfort when returning home post-surgery.

TRAVEL COMPANION OPTIONS

Whilst our hospital facilities and in-destination support team are amazing, you might also like to have a familiar face to travel with you for emotional support.

If taking a companion, for a fee of $499 your companion will receive:

  • Shared Airport-Hotel-Hospital transfers with you
  • Shared accommodation in your hotel room
  • Buffet breakfast daily at the hotel
  • Hospital accommodation on day bed during your hospital stay

Please Note: If your companion would prefer to stay at the hotel during this time, this can be arranged for an additional fee.

If you wish to bring children to Thailand, which is not advisable, please be aware that you must also have an adult traveling companion present to care for them at all times. Some hospitals do not allow children under 16 years to be on the premises.

PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS

You’ll need a passport with at least 6 months of validity at the time of your departure.

WHAT TO PACK

Proper preparation is key to ensuring a smooth Plastic Surgery journey. Read the Ultimate Surgery Packing List.

COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS

It is very important that all clients travelling to Thailand:

  • Complete a COVID-19 test before travelling to Thailand, even if you are not exhibiting any symptoms. Remember also that patients can test positive for up to three months after a previous infection.
  • If you test positive before travelling, please contact your Client Manager to discuss surgery amendment options – please note, our Cancellation & Amendment Policy applies.
  • Rescheduling your surgery will also depend on your health, the availability of your Surgeon and the hospital, and the nature of your surgery, as some procedures (ie Rhinoplasty) may require a more extended period post-infection.

MEDICATION TRAVEL CERTIFICATES

If you plan to take medication to Thailand, (prescription or over-the-counter) you must:

  • Visit your GP to obtain a Medical Certificate that includes what each medication is, the dose, and that it is intended for personal use. At the same time, ask your GP to ensure your medication is legal in Thailand.
  • Ensure all medication is in its original packaging
  • Only take enough medicine for the duration of your trip

TRAVEL INSURANCE

It is strongly recommended that you do take out a Travel Policy. Medical Travel Shield is an Australian-based company offering overseas plastic surgery insurance. For more information, please refer to Medical Travel Shield.

Please note that travel insurance is NOT related to, or associated with, the CosMediTour Surgery Travel Back Warranty.

ACCOMODATION IN THAILAND

Your package includes your hotel accommodation in Thailand. To view where you’ll stay and recuperate after your surgery, visit our Hotels.

TRANSFERS IN THAILAND

Your package includes an Airport-Hotel-Hospital round transfer in Bangkok or Phuket. Once you arrive and have collected your luggage, your transfers will be at the airport pick-up point. Just look for a driver holding a sign with your name on it. If your driver has not arrived, it’s likely due to traffic, so please be patient. If your wait time is too long, then please call your driver.

THAI CUSTOMS, CULTURE & LAWS

Thailand is warm and welcoming, but you must be familiar with the country’s culture and customs before you arrive. Understanding laws and cultural etiquette will pave the way for a smooth visit and enrich your experience. Find out what you need to know in our Thailand Destination Guide.
