When Is Plastic Surgery Possible After Pregnancy?
To determine your eligibility for this procedure, a Free Online Assessment will assess your suitability, taking into account specific criteria that all CosMediTour clients must meet for Plastic Surgery. Here are some key factors, particularly relevant to mothers:
- Future Family Plans: If you plan to have more children, our Plastic Surgeons generally do not recommend this procedure, as it’s best suited for those who have completed their family planning.
- Time Since Last Pregnancy: It’s essential to allow your body sufficient time to recover from pregnancy and breastfeeding. Therefore, our Plastic Surgeons advise waiting at least 12 months after your last pregnancy.
- Breastfeeding or Lactating: If you are currently breastfeeding or have recently stopped, breast surgery is typically postponed for six to twelve months to minimize infection risks due to changing milk supply.
- Body Mass Index (BMI): Maintaining a healthy BMI before surgery often leads to better outcomes, a smoother recovery, and faster healing.
- Home Support: Adequate support at home is crucial. You should arrange additional care for your children during your recovery, as you will be limited in your activities for several weeks.
Please note that the 12-month period begins from your full-term pregnancy date, with a 6-month waiting period following pregnancy termination.

What Support Will I Need After Mummy Makeover Surgery?
Following your Mummy Makeover in Thailand, adhering to your Surgeon’s guidance is crucial to minimise post-surgery complications and ensure successful results. This includes a mandatory period of rest after the procedure. Specifically for mothers, having a good support system is essential during this phase.
Clients with young children or pets will require assistance for a minimum of 4 weeks after their Mummy Makeover. During this time, they must provide round-the-clock support, including:
- Care for Dependents
- Cooking and Household Maintenance
- Transportation (as clients cannot drive for 4 weeks post-surgery)
- Avoiding heavy lifting, including lifting children
Mummy Makeover Recovery
Recovery experiences vary among clients, however, we recommend that clients take a strict two-week period for rest and consider taking four to six weeks off work following a Mummy Makeover procedure. Key considerations include:
- Strict Rest: Allow for a two-week period of rest with your upper body elevated. Keep your surgical wounds dry during this time, opting for sponge baths instead of showers. Your surgeon will advise when you can safely resume full bathing and lying flat.
- Exercise Limitations: In the initial week, limit physical activity to light walking around your home, being cautious not to strain the mid-section. Avoid strenuous exercise for at least six weeks.
- Driving Restriction: Refrain from driving for a minimum of four weeks post-surgery.
- Gradual Return to Normal Activities: Over four weeks, gradually reintroduce regular activities, following your plastic surgeon’s recommendations. Your CosMediTour client manager will provide detailed instructions for your support person as you approach the planning stages of your procedure.
